Car Insurance for Women
60
There
are many reasons why women drivers need to have insurance tailor-made
for them. Statistics show that fewer than 20% of all speeding
convictions and 14% of careless driving offenses are
committed by women. Let's face it, women drivers are safer drivers. That is why car insurance for women is less expensive than than car insurance for men.
Many studies have found that the level of aggressiveness for women drivers is very low compared to men. The World Health Organisation’s Department of Gender and Women’s Health highlighted in a recent report that men are more prone to risk-taking behaviour. Data from insurers also reveals that women are involved in fewer car accidents and the extent of the damage in such accidents is also much less.
In addition to offering lower premiums for women, insurers are targeting their policies to appeal to the growing market of women drivers. With cheaper premiums and flexible payment schemes, car insurance tailored to women is becoming more common.
Special Car Insurance Policies for Women
Insurers have also come to realize that women have specific needs when it comes to driving. Women almost always carry the “essentials” when going out: handbag, jewelry, mobile phones and the like. Many insurance providers that offer car insurance for woman drivers now provide coverage for anything that the driver and passengers carry in the car (generally known as Personal Belongings Coverage).
Another key component of women’s car insurance is roadside assistance. Most insurers will also extend this policy to provide assistance in the case of breakdown at the home address of the insured. Free towing and sometimes even a rental car are part of the deal, if the company is unable to fix the insured car at the roadside. Roadside assistance is a great help for women who often do not know who to turn to in times of trouble.
Cost of Women's Car Insurance
Although premiums for women drivers are usually lower, car insurance premiums do not depend only on gender. A number of factors are considered when the calculation of risk is made by the insurer. Usually, a better premium can be obtained by driving the right car: smaller cars with low repair costs. Luxury vehicles, SUVs and new vehicles with advanced technology features are usually more costly to insure. It's a good idea to obtain an insurance quote before deciding which model of car to purchase.
The cost of car insurance can also be reduced by qualifying discounts. Some of the discounts available include safety and anti-theft features on the vehicle to be insured. Of course, one of the most significant discounts comes from having a clean driving record. Being accident-free and violation-free will save you a bundle on your car insurance, regardless of whether you are a man or a woman.
